ACNE

N-Lite laser acne treatment with Kerastick

Described as the most significant advancement in acne treatment for decades, the N-Lite laser combined with the prescription Kerastick, a topical solution, is a safe, fast and effective procedure. Clinical studies have shown N-Lite to be comparable to, and sometimes more effective than, prescription antibiotics. N-Lite is a painless treatment without any side effects.

How it works

The first part of treatment the doctor will apply the Kerastick solution to the problem area. The next step, the area is subjected to N-Lite, a yellow light laser which activates the Kerastick treatment. This treatment interacts with a naturally occurring substance in the skin, porphoryn, to create a reaction that releases oxygen. It is this release of oxygen that kills the bacteria present in acne. Treatment also helps to replenish your collagen to help repair the skin damage caused by the acne infection. As a result N-Lite treatment offers a long lasting improvement in acne and overall texture of the skin.

How many treatments are required?

For mild to moderate acne, a single treatment may be sufficient to suppress acne for months and possibly longer. Maintenance treatments may be required and this will depend on the individual. For severe acne more treatments may be recommended. The treatment itself is very fast with a full-face area treated in less than 30 minutes. Results are normally seen within two weeks with continued improvement over the following months.

Is it painful?

N-Lite laser treatment is non-invasive and relatively painless. The patient will experience a warming of the skin as the laser is applied to the treatment area.

AGE SPOTS & PIGMENTED SKIN

Age spots are caused by excessive exposure to the sun, and eventually most adults get them. Pigmented skin areas are caused by an excess of melanin in certain skin cells. Both of these types of skin marks can be safely, easily, painlessly and effectively removed with lasers without damaging the skin. Removing age spots usually requires one or two sessions. Pigmented areas may require 1-8 visits.

How does a laser work?
The word LASER is an acronym for Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Lasers use an intense beam of light to gently remove unwanted, damaged, or diseased cells without harming the surrounding healthy cells. The laser's energy is delivered in short adjustable pulses, which minimizes bruising.

SPIDER VEINS

What is a Pigmented Lesion (Sun Spots)?
Pigmented lesions occur when there is an excess of melanin in certain skin cells creating an area that is dark in color. Sometimes called “age spots,” pigmented lesions are commonly found on the face and hands, and are usually caused by excessive exposure to the sun. Most adults will eventually get age spots as they get older.

What is a Vascular Lesion (Spider Veins)?
Vascular Lesions are skin blemishes caused by abnormal blood vessels located directly under your skin's surface. The color of your skin will often appear red as a result of these blemishes, depending on how many lesions you have in an area. "Port wine stains", "strawberry hemangiomas" and "spider veins" are all common forms of vascular lesions. Some vascular lesions do not have color and are called non-pigmented lesions.

Both of these types of skin blemishes can be safely, easily, and effectively removed with lasers without damaging the skin. Though this treatment is most commonly used on the face and legs it can effectively be used on all parts of your body with outstanding results.

How many treatments are required?

The number of treatments depends on the size, location, depth and color of your lesion. Spider veins on the face and age spots generally do well with one to three treatments, while darker or deeper birthmarks may require additional treatments. Treatments should be scheduled four to six weeks apart to achieve maximum results as your body naturally removes the colored cells.

ROSACEA

TATTOO REMOVAL

How does a laser work?
Laser treatment uses an intense beam of light to gently remove unwanted, damaged, or diseased cells without harming the surrounding healthy cells. When laser energy is absorbed in the pigmented or tattooed skin, it breaks up the ink that causes the discoloration and allows it to be carried away by the body.

How many treatments are required?
Length and number of treatments depend on the size, location, depth and color of your tattoo. New and darker colored tattoos require more treatments than older, faded tattoos. Treatments are four to six weeks apart to allow your body to remove the maximum amount of pigmented or tattooed cells, which will diminish the appearance of the tattoo.

Are VersaPulse laser treatments safe?
Lasers have been used successfully in millions of treatments. Laser treatments performed properly, by a trained physician, are safe and effective. There are many benefits to laser treatments: little if any pain, no needles for most patients, less bruising and swelling, id any.

Do laser treatments hurt?
The VersaPulse Laser uses a special "chilled tip" to cool the skin during treatment. Some patients say they feel a slight sting, like the snap of a rubber band on the skin, followed by the feeling of sunburn. Many treatments do not require anesthetics. However, some patients feel more comfortable with a local numbing agent like ice. For some patients a local anesthesia may be beneficial.

What results can I expect?
Most patients will see improvement in their vascular and pigmented lesions. This improvement can be quite dramatic. However, as with any surgical procedure, there is always a possibility that only minor changes will occur and in rare cases there is no response.

  • What types of lasers does Dr. Lacombe use?
The VersaPulseª Aesthetic Laser has a special water-cooled chilled tip which cools the skin during treatment and is used for treatment of vascular and pigmented lesions (see definition above).

The NLite®-V system is a laser which uses patented pulse technology to emit a wavelength of yellow laser light to heat the web of collagen in the skin’s underlayer, causing a tightening of the skin, which improves skin tone and texture, and stimulating collagen production. The improvements will continue and become even more noticeable in the four to six months following your treatment.

    TESTIMONIALS

I turned 60 the other day and I feel that if you hadn't worked your magic on me I would be quite depressed! Turning 60 was tough enough but my face and skin look so much better since seeing you, it has made ageing a little easier.
