SCAR REVISION
Scars are the result of trauma to your skin and have varying degrees of appearance. While there are several types of scars, depending on the cause such as a burn or an injury, there are also many variables which can affect the level of scarring, including the severity of the wound, blood supply to the area, thickness and color of your skin, and the direction and location of the scar. While it is impossible to completely remove a scar, you can do much to diminish the appearance of the scar. Treatments to reshape the scar or make it less visible vary from skin grafts to outpatient surgery. Laser treatments can also be used to remove or lighten the color of the scar. Dr. Lacombe will help you decide which procedure is best suited for your needs. Am I a good candidate for this procedure? If you have a scar you are a good candidate. Most scars continue to change for up to and beyond a year. Many scars that appear large and unattractive at first will become less noticeable with time. For these reasons, many plastic surgeons recommend waiting as long as a year or more after an injury or surgery before you decide to have scar revision. How soon can I get back to work? There is minimal recovery time, you can return to work or normal activities immediately. |

Teresa, age 39 I have been to several other Plastic Surgeons and none of them were able to make me look as good as Dr. Lacombe can!
