LASER RESURFACING
Laser resurfacing, also known as laser peel, is a surgical procedure used
to improve the texture and appearance of aged skin, deep fine lines, and
scars. Laser resurfacing may also be used to remove pre-cancerous lesions.
The procedure uses a carbon dioxide laser beam which vaporizes the upper
layers of damaged skin at controlled levels of penetration, making the
procedure safe and predictable, and reducing the risk of scarring or pigmentation
problems. Laser resurfacing may be performed on the whole face or in specific
regions. Often, the procedure is done in conjunction with another cosmetic
operation, such as a facelift or eyelid surgery.
Am I good candidate for this procedure?
If you have many lines and wrinkles your may be a good candidate. The
procedure is excellent for under eyes and around the mouth, and for smoothing
out acne scars.
How soon will I be able to go back to work?
At first you will be very red. Within two days the redness will go away.
At two weeks you can go back to work and ifany redness remains you can
use make upto cover it up. Remember, protecting your skin from the sun
is also important following a treatment. Ask Dr. Lacombe to recommend
a sunblock with adequate UVA and UVB protection and use it every day.
Avoid any activity that could cause a bump to your face for at least two
weeks.
