ENDOSCOPIC BROW LIFT
Noticeable signs of aging are often visible in the forehead and eyebrow region. Looseness in these areas may cause drooping eyebrows, eyelid hooding, forehead furrows, and frown lines. In addition to the visible sign of aging, these effects can make a person appear angry, sad or tired. In brow surgery the structures responsible for these conditions are tightened or altered to smooth the forehead, raise the upper eyebrows and improve the frown lines. A brow lift may be performed alone, or in conjunction with other procedures such as face lift, neck lift and/or eyelid surgery. Sometimes, patients who feel they need upper-eyelid surgery find that a brow lift better meets their surgical goals. Recent advances in brow lift surgery make it possible to perform the procedure using an endoscope, with tiny incision hidden in the hairline. Brow lift surgery is individualized for each patient’s specific needs. Working with you, Dr. Lacombe will select the technique to best meet your needs, and surgical goal. Am I good candidate for this procedure? A brow lift is performed to minimize the visual effects of aging and results in a more alert and refreshed look. This treatment is most commonly performed on individuals in the 40-60 age range, however it can also help individuals of any age who have developed furrows or frown lines due to stress, premature aging or inherited conditions. For patients who are bald or have a receding hairline, Dr. Lacombe will simply move the incision area to a more suitable location. Some patients who have short hair choose to let their hair grow longer before surgery, so that it is long enough to hide the incisions while they heal. How soon can I get back to work? While you will be up and about in a day or two, you should plan on taking it easy for the first week after surgery. Most people can return to work or school within a week or less, though it is recommended that you avoid strenuous activity for a few weeks. You will be able to shower and shampoo your hair as soon as the bandage is removed, usually within a day or two of the procedure. |
